Pat leads First Trust’s social media activities internally and externally- primarily coaching & training financial advisors and partnering with First Trust clients. He joined First Trust in 2006. Prior to his current role, he’s been in leadership positions with two First Trust affiliates -- FT Capital Partners and BondWave LLC.   Pat began his financial services career in 1984. He’s held sales & marketing leadership roles with Putnam, PaineWebber, Van Kampen, UBS, and John Hancock. He was also President & co-owner of Advantage Coaching & Training (ACT).   He has been coaching & training individuals and teams within financial services throughout his career. He has led the development of several advisor focused programs, including “PREP” at Putnam, “TEAM” at Van Kampen and “TOP PRODUCER FORUMS” at UBS. He is a Registered Corporate Coach (RCC) with the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC).   Pat is a graduate of Colby College in Waterville, ME. He resides in Wheaton, IL with his wife Karen. He has three children: Meaghan, a Compliance Coordinator at First Trust; Gretchen, an HR Associate at First Trust, and Patrick, an intern at First Trust and student at Taylor University.

    Central to my 28 year career in financial services has been helping financial advisors maximize innovations that present new business development opportunities. I believe social media is one such innovation. As the Director of Social Media at First Trust, I lead the development and execution of First Trust's social media initiatives. Our social media team helps financial advisors reap the business development benefits of social media through providing coaching, training, presentations, a social media site accessible through www.ftportfolios.com and a LinkedIn group: First Trust Social Biz, http://bit.ly/ftsocial. We partner with our client firms to maximize social media use among their advisors. We manage First Trust's social media sites, where we share content from our senior thought leaders. We collaborate with social media sites and service providers to help further the use of social media within the financial services sector.
